HTC One owners waiting for an update to the latest version of Android will have to practice a bit more patience.The company said late Friday that it would miss its goal of bringing Android 5.0, also known as Lollipop, to the carrier versions of the HTC One M8 and M7 within 90 days. Thedeadline for that window would fall on February 1.

HTC isn't the only one to deal with update issues. In a blog post Thursday, Motorola laid out some of the challenges involved with the Lollipop update . It had finally brought Android 5.0 to Moto G in India and Brazil, despite updating the phone in other regions as far back as November (second-generation Moto G users in the US will get it in phases ).

 The challenges go back to the need toperform additional tests before an update can be pushed to a large number of users.HTC M7 comes with a 4.7 Full HD screen at 468 pixel density. This does not sound much but in comparison, it is actually the best one so far because the Apple iPhone5 has a 326pixel density and Samsung SIII has 306 pixel density. Aside from that, it will come with a Ultrapixels of three 4.5MP camera lens. This will give the camera the ability to take clearer shots with excellent contrasts and brighter images.

Shortly after Google released the Nexus 6 and Android 5.0 Lollipop, a small update was pushed to Google Play Services. Instead of relying on a Bluetooth connection or NFC tag, you can now set "safe" locations in which your device will remain unlocked. Leave that zone, and your device will lock and require your security code or pattern to be entered.

Setting up a location for Smart Lock is simple, following the same steps :-

• Launch the Settings app.
• Select Security from the list.
• Tap Smart Lock followed by Trusted Places.

If Trusted Places isn't an option, you'll need to wait until the Play Services update is pushed to your device.

If you've entered your Home and Work locations into Google Maps or Google Now, they'll be listed with a toggle switch next to each one. Additionally, you can add more locations by tapping on "add trusted place" and using an interactive map.

1. Download Rufus, a free tool that will correctly prepare the USB drive, automatically extract the contents of the ISO file you have, and properly copy the files contained within it to your USB device, including any files in the ISO needed to make it bootable.
   Rufus is a portable program (does not install), works on Windows 8, 7, Vista, and XP, and will "burn" an ISO image file to any type of USB storage device you happen to have.
    
2. Double-click or double-tap on the rufus-1.4.12.exe file that you just downloaded. The Rufus program will start right away.
   As I mentioned earlier, Rufus is a portable program, meaning that it just runs as is. This is a big reason why I prefer this ISO-to-USB program over some of the other options out there.
    
3. Insert the flash drive or other USB device you want to "burn" the ISO file to into your computer, assuming it's not already plugged in.
   Important: Burning an ISO image to a USB drive will erase everything on the drive! Check that the USB drive is empty or that you have backed up any files you want to keep before continuing.
    
4. From the Device drop-down at the top of the Rufus program screen, choose the USB storage device you want to burn the ISO file to.

HTC Desire 826 earlier this month at CES 2015, this week launched the handset in China. While the 16GB storage model of the smartphone is priced at CNY 2,299 (roughly Rs. 22,600), the 32GB storage variant costs CNY 2,499 (roughly Rs. 24,500).

The smartphone will be available to buy starting Thursday from the HTC Eshop website. The smartphone's India price and launch dates are still not yet known, though the smartphone is already listed on the company's India site.

The 4G-enabled Desire 826 smartphone will come in two variants (single-SIM and dual-SIM) depending upon the regions. The HTC Desire 826 runs Android 5.0 Lollipop with HTC Sense UI skinned on top and features a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080x1920 pixels) display.

The Desire 826 is powered by an octa-core (four cores at 1.5GHz and four cores at 1.0GHz) 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor alongside Adreno 405 GPU and 2GB of RAM. It sports a 13-megapixel (f/2.2) rear camera with 28mm lens, BSI sensor, and LED flash. The front camera is an 4-UltraPixel shooter. The 16GB/ 32GB of inbuilt storage on Desire 826 is expandable via microSD card (up to 128GB).

Meanwhile, HTC on Wednesday in India launched its lower-mid range Desire 526G+ Dual SIM. The smartphone features a 4.7-inch qHD (540x960 pixels) display; a 1.7GHz octa-core processor; 1GB RAM; an 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash; a 2-megapixel front-facing camera; 8GB/ 16GB inbuilt storage which can be expanded via microSD card (up to 32GB), and a 2000mAh battery.

Connectivity options on the HTC Desire 826 smartphone include 4G (dual-4G), Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, GPS/ A-GPS, and Micro-USB. The handset is backed by a 2600mAh battery. The thickness of the smartphone is 7.5mm and it weighs 155 grams. The Desire 826 comes in two-tone colours including White Birch, Blue Lagoon, and Purple Fire.

Whether it's wrapping up an unfinished message on Mail or a document in Pages, these automatically sync across Apple devices with Handoff. 3. Phone calls: You can make and receive phone calls using any supported Apple device.

Handoff
1. On your iOS device, go to Settings > General > Handoff & Suggested Apps > On.
2. On your Mac, go to System Preferences > General > check Allow Handoff.
Once you've done this, and, say, you are composing an email on your iPhone and have the Mac nearby, Mail will show up in the Dock. Clicking on this will let you continue composing the email exactly where you left off without having to save a draft first on your iPhone, then finding it on the Mac and so on.
Conversely, if you start something on the Mac, an icon will pop up on your iPhone or iPad and you can tap it to quickly finish the task. At launch, Handoff works with Apple apps like Mail, Safari, Pages, Numbers, Keynote, Maps, Messages, Reminders, Calendar, and Contacts, but a host of third-party apps should add support soon.
Instant Hotspot
1. Settings > Personal Hotspot > On. You can do this on your iPhone or an iPad.
2. Now the mobile Internet connection will show up as a hotspot on your Apple devices. You can connect to it without entering the password, as long as you meet requirements like proximity and being signed in with the same Apple ID.

Xiaomi's new Mi Note phablet, as expected, went up for sale in China for the first time on Tuesday. Within three minutes of the sale going live, the company announced that the Xiaomi Mi Note went "out of stock", leaving us to believe that the handset was sold out within this period.

 The company also revealed that the next sale for the Mi Note will be held on February 3 without again revealing the number of units expected to be available.

The KGI Investment Advisory report primarily focused on what impact the large shipping units of the Mi Note will put on several Taiwanese technology companies. KGI expected that Xiaomi will ship around 13 to 15 million Mi Note units in 2015, where March and May months will see the flagship phablet sales topping.
To recall, the Xiaomi Mi Note phablet launched earlier this month, and has been priced at CNY 2,299 (roughly Rs. 23,000) for the 16GB model, while the 64GB model comes at CNY 2,799 (roughly Rs. 27,900).

One of the more intriguing features requires an App-Tronics accessory radar detector mounted on the front of the car. SmartNav 5 shows an alert on its screen whenever the accessory detects police radar, and includes a live database of recorded speed traps.

The SmartNav5 not only includes a series of buttons along the lower bezel to bring up different features, but also incorporates a touchscreen so drivers can enter addresses for navigation. The full, icon-covered screen of the SmartNav 5 may seem like a safety hazard, but drivers can choose different themes that limit the display to as little as three icons.

The SmartNav 5 rear-view mirror casing includes a small computer running Windows CE, hosting a variety of useful driving apps. It runs iGo navigation software, giving drivers turn-by-turn route guidance. There is a video recorder tied to a front-facing camera, which works as an incident recorder in case of a crash, similar to current dash-mounted crash recorders. App-Tronics even includes a Bluetooth phone connection, as the SmartNav 5 can be wired to the car's audio system. It shows performance gauges, such as a digital speedometer, but this data is derived from the GPS chip in the unit, rather than the car's own CAN bus system.

Sony  unveiled the new Alpha 7 II (ILCE-7M2) mirrorless camera. The new Alpha 7 II has a special 5-axis optical image stabilisation (sensor-shift), which is the first of its kind in a full-frame mirrorless camera.

The five axis optical image stabilisation (OIS) can move along the regular left/ right and up/ down axis. The sensor can try to negate three other angular movements of the camera - tilting up/ down (pitch), swinging left/ right (yaw) and rotating clockwise/ anti-clockwise (roll). Using the CIPA standard, Sony claims that the this OIS system can reduce shakes up to 4.5-stops, which indicates that you can hold the camera in your hands and use shutter speeds that are 4.5-stops slower without a perceptible shake.

Since the OIS is reliant on the sensor, it will work with any lens attached to it, including non-Sony lenses that are attached using an adapter. In fact, if a Sony-Standard E-mount lens with image stabilisation is attached, then the camera leverages on both the image stabilisation systems to further reduce camera shake.

The Alpha 7 II comes with a 24.3-megapixel Exmor CMOS Sensor that features the predecessor's 117 phase detect and 25 contrast detect points, but Sony claims there is a 30 percent improvement in the auto-focus speed.

With respect to video recording, while Sony hasn't added 4K video capability, the Alpha 7 II does get support for the XAVC S codec, which can record 1080/ 60p video at 50Mbps. The camera also has support for S-Log 2, thus adding a wider dynamic range.

The Alpha 7 II has a bigger grip and has an additional front dial. The shutter release button has now been placed on the grip, which Sony claims is similar to DSLRs. We will have to test the camera to figure out how it performs ergonomically.The Sony Alpha 7 II is slated to be available in Japan from December 5 and should hit the European markets by January 2015.

While the Nikon 1 AW1 comes with a 11-27.5mm F/3.5-5.6 lens kit at Rs. 39,950, the Nikon 1 V3 and Nikon 1 J4 come with 1 NIKKOR VR 10-30mm f/3.5-5.6 PD-ZOOM lenses priced at Rs. 43,950 and Rs. 24,950 respectively. The cameras are also listed on the company's India website.

The Nikon also states that the 14.2-megapixel sensor featuring AW1 camera is the first waterproof, shockproof and freeze-proof interchangeable lens camera. While it can stay underwater without any camera body for up to 15 metres, it can also absorb fall shocks from up to 2 metres and temperature as low as -10 degrees. The camera also features an Advanced Hybrid Autofocus System, which chooses the best image and records videos depending on the contrast and other settings.

The Nikon 1 V3 and Nikon 1 J4 sport 18.4-megapixel sensor along with the company's own Expeed 4A image processing engine. Both the cameras also feature wireless connectivity and can send images or videos directly to smartphones and tablets via Wi-Fi. However, the wireless transfer is only available for Android-running devices. Also, the cameras are not waterproof and would need a separate waterproof case to click underwater images.

First, you will need to check that your camera is compatible with the software for this tutorial. It's called SparkoCam, and works with  most Canon and Nikon dSLRs. Check the list at the bottom of this page for your particular model.

Step one: Download SparkoCam and install on the PC.

Step two: Connect the camera to your PC using a USB cable. This is usually a microUSB or miniUSB to full USB cable, and one comes with your camera. Turn on the camera and let drivers install if necessary.

In SparkoCam under the Device tab, you should see the software auto-detect your camera. You can change the preview resolution and the video bitrate. Under the Effects tab you can add overlays to  the video image if you so desire.

SparkoCam also allows you to change the exposure to adjust aperture, shutter speed, ISO and white balance. Make sure to set the focus at this stage, otherwise the person on the other end will see you as a blur.

Step three: Start the chat software (such as Skype). Go to Tools > Options, then select Video Settings. Choose the SparkoCam option as your webcam input. You should see the image from the dSLR on screen.

Step four: Find a microphone to record sound, or use your PC's internal mic. You can't use the dSLR's internal mic for this, unfortunately.
