SanDisk Unveils 200GB microSDXC Card

 

SanDisk has unveiled a new microSDXC memory card with an astonishing 200GB capacity. This is particularly impressive because SandDisk has continued to push more and more gigabytes onto a storage medium that is the size of the average human fingernail.

Also launched by SanDisk is a new 32GB dual-USB drive with a reversible Type-C USB 3.1 connector, and one USB 3.0 connector. Again, here isn't anything you can actually connect the Dual USB Drive to, with Type-C compatible phones and tablets expected to launch in the coming months. Whenever they do, this card will keep you ready though, and in the meantime, you can always use the regular USB plug to connect it to the vast majority of computers available in the market.

Neither of these products are actually launching just yet, with SanDisk just content to showcase the fact that it's ready with the next generation of products. Both will be available in the coming months, with the Type-C USB drive also expecting storage capacities higher than 32GB.

There are also updates to the iXpand Sync app, which now supports Apple's Touch ID fingerprint sensor on the new iPhones and iPads. The new 128GB capacity costs $150 (roughly Rs. 9,300) and is already retailing via Sandisk.com.

It's interesting to note that despite paying the cost of an average smartphone ($400) for the SanDisk 200GB Ultra microSDXC UHS-1 Premium Edition card, users may not actually be able to use it with anything just yet.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 #Edge come in 32GB, 64GB and 128GB variants. At present, the Samsung Netherlands website only lists the 32GB variant of Galaxy S6 for EUR 699 (approximately Rs. 48,300) and the Galaxy S6 Edge at EUR 849 (approximately Rs. 58,600). There is no official pricing information of the other storage variants of the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge.

Th 32GB pricing for both the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge by #Samsung Netherlands matches with the previously mentioned report citing Samsung officials, which also revealed pricing for the 64GB and 128GB variants. For the Galaxy S6, it tipped EUR 799 (approximately Rs. 55,200) for the 64GB variant, EUR 899 (approximately Rs. 62,100) for the 128GB variant.

The US carriers pricing is said to be starting at $199 (approximately Rs. 12,300) for Galaxy S6 and $299 (approximately Rs. 18,400) for Galaxy S6 Edge. Additionally, the report had claimed that the global launch details will be detailed by Samsung around April 10.

Lenovo Vibe Shot Smartphones Launched

Lenovo has announced three new products in its portfolio dubbed the #Lenovo Vibe Shot and Lenovo A7000 smartphones, and a touted "smartphone crossover device" called the Lenovo Pocket Projector.
The Lenovo Vibe Shot will be available starting in June at  Rs. 21,600 and the Lenovo A7000 smartphone will be available in March starting at $169 (approximately Rs. 10,400) in countries where Lenovo smartphones are sold, says company. The Lenovo Pocket Projector will be available worldwide starting at Rs. 15,400 from May.

The dual-SIM (nano-SIM) Lenovo Vibe Shot runs Android 5.0 Lollipop and features a 5-inch full-HD (1080x1920 pixels) display. Lenovo is highlighting the Vibe Shot's 16-megapixel with infrared autofocus rear camera with tri-colour LED flash which according to company also features a six-piece modular lens. The camera has a full-frame 16:9 low-light sensor for shooting images in low lighting as well as dark interiors or at night.
The Lenovo Vibe Shot packs an octa-core 64-bit Snapdragon 615 SoC clocked at 1.7GHz coupled with 3GB of RAM. Inbuilt storage on the handset is 32GB, which is expandable via microSD card (up to 32GB). Connectivity options on the smartphone include 4G, Wi-Fi, GPS/ A-GPS, Bluetooth, and Micro-USB. The handset is backed by a 2900mAh battery. It measures 142.0x70.0x7.3mm and weighs 145 grams.
Coming to the Lenovo A7000, the smartphone is a successor to company's popular 4G/ LTE budget offering - the Lenovo A6000 - and features substantially upgraded specification.

The Lenovo Pocket Projector comes with a 50-lumens high-contrast display that according to company can be projected at up to 110-inches on screen/ wall/ roof. It includes a 90-degree hinge, up to 2.5 hours of battery life, and a microSD card (up to 32GB) expandability option.

The A7000 features an 8-megapixel auto focus rear camera with LED flash and a 5-megapixel front facing camera. Internal storage on the handset is 8GB, which is expandable via microSD card (unknown capacity). Connectivity options on the smartphone include 4G/ LTE (FDD Band 1, 3, 7, 20; TDD Band 40), Wi-Fi, GPS/ A-GPS, Bluetooth, and Micro-USB, just the predecessor.
The Lenovo A7000 is backed by a 2900mAh battery, measures 152.6x76.2x7.99mm and weighs 140 grams.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 and #Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge will be available globally starting April 10 and will be available in 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB storage variants. The company announced that the new Galaxy smartphones will come in White Pearl, Black Sapphire, Gold Platinum, Blue Topaz (Galaxy S6) and Green Emerald (Galaxy S6 edge only).  

Both the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge feature 5.1-inch Quad HD (1440x2560 pixels) Super AMOLED display with a pixel density of 577ppi. The only difference being the latter sports a dual-edge display.
The new Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge run Android 5.0 Lollipop and feature a 14nm octa-core mobile processor with 64-bit capability. The company writes, "The world's first 14nm mobile processor with 64-bit platform, new LPDDR4 memory system and UFS 2.0 flash memory provides higher performance and enhanced memory speed with lower power consumption."

There is a 16-megapixel rear camera with OIS (optical image stabilisation) and LED flash while there is a 5-megapixel front camera on board. Both the handsets come with a slew of camera features such as quick launch, tracking AF, auto real-time HDR, f/1.9, IR detect white balance, low light video, high clear zoom, virtual shot, slow motion, fast motion, pro mode, and selective focus.

Samsung's premium handsets come preloaded with Microsoft apps such as OneDrive offering 115GB for 2 years, and OneNote. The Galaxy S6 is backed by a 2550mAh battery while the Galaxy S6 Edge comes with 2600mAh battery. For connectivity, both the handset support LTE Cat. 6 that supports up to 300Mbps of download speed.
