Nikon Coolpix P900 With 83x Zoom Lens Launched

Nikon Coolpix P900

Nikon's latest Coolpix P900 puts all other superzooms to shame with its massive 83x zoom lens and on the other hand, from the looks of it, the D7200 is just an evolutionary upgrade to the D7100. The Coolpix P900 carries a price tag of $600 (approximately Rs. 37,300) whereas the D7200 is priced at $1,200 (approximately Rs. 74,600), body-only, and a DX NIKKOR 18-140mm f/3.5-5.6G kit will be available for $1,700 (approximately Rs. 1,58,000).

The Nikon D7200 has a 24.2-megapixel sensor with no optical low-pass filter, also known as anti-aliasing filter that helps in reduction of moire effects in an image. It packs all the components inside a sturdy magnesium alloy weather-sealed body. It uses the new Expeed 4 processor for image processing. The D7200 can shoot images in the ISO range of 100 to 102,400 with the last two sensitivities - 51,200 and 102,400 - limited to black and white output only. The camera uses a Multi-CAM 3500DX II autofocus system. It can shoot 1080p 60p videos at 1.3x crop mode. It has in-built Wi-Fi with NFC and two memory card slots. The battery is rated to allow 1100 shots on a single charge.

The Coolpix P900 has a bridge design and a 1/2.3-inch CMOS sensor inside it, which is a bit of disappointment. The zoom lens can go as wide as 24mm and on the telephoto end it can hit 2000mm. To counter the inevitable lens shake, Nikon makes use of an advanced image stabilisation system that offers 5 stops of shake reduction. It has an minimum-maximum aperture range of f2.8-f6.5 and it can go as close as 1cm of the subject in macro mode. Also, the Coolpix P900 is not a light camera by any margin at 899g. It includes a 3-inch variangle LCD with a 921k dots resolution and also has a viewfinder with the same resolution. There is in-built Wi-Fi and the Coolpix P900 also supports the NFC protocol fro wireless connectivity/transfers.
